Do you have a specific writing style?
Not particularly. I tend to mix it all together so it doesn’t sound monotonous.
When did you realize that you wanted to be a writer?
It was late summer last year when I finally decided to write my first novel Chasing Beautiful.
How do you come up with the titles for your books?
Doodling with on my notepad while I draw butterflies on the side.
Can you tell us a bit about your cover art?
They need to be the closest possible to the characters.
They need to be the closest possible to the characters.
Are any of the experiences your characters face based on someone you know or your own life?
Bass Cole’s character was partially based on someone I met in London.
Sienna Richards (Chasing Series) was loosely based on someone close to me as well.

Who is your favorite character from your books and why?
Emma Anderson (Torn Series). She’s a well-rounded persona and I liked that about her. She’s honest with just enough naïveté and sass. She’s at that age where she’s looking for herself and finding what she really wants to do with her life. She’s also at that age where people fall in love without holding anything back. Everything’s fresh—from the outlook in life, the possibilities are endless.

Now how about your least favorite? What makes them less appealing to you?
Cece from Torn Series. She’s just conniving and didn’t care much about anyone other than herself.
What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
I love writing novels that have a lot of twists. I LOVE angst in all of my books. It makes the reader appreciates the journey so much more.

What is the most surprising thing you learned while creating your books?
Once you start plotting, it never stops ;)
Do you ever write in your Pj’s?
Not so much. I’m usually in my sweatpants with a venti macchiato or cappuccino.

What are your pet peeves?
Disrespectful folks.
Selfish people—hate those.

If you could change ONE thing about your last novel (not your current new release Blasphemous) what would it be and why?
Lily’s Mistake. I was writing both Scornfully Yours and Lily’s at the same time, but SY’s plot took over and I had to put LM on hold. When I got back to it, the dynamics changed. I’m actually working on additions to prolong the story.
Do you experience writers block and what gets you out of your funk?
I’ve been experiencing a lot lately. I think it’s because the characters get more complicated as I write more books. Sleep, sleep, and sleep helps a lot—but I have a hard time catching up on my zzz’s. One of the things that I usually do before I begin writing; I need to listen to music that would help me imagine these characters in my head. How they act, talk and so forth.
Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?
For me to write, I need to be in a room where no one can bother me. Now that I have my writing cave, I’m set to go.
Name one entity that supported you other than family?
My dogs, Sugar and Cookie. They always stay up with me. Poor babies. Both look so tired too.
Who is your favorite author and what strikes you about their work?
I have a fascination with historical novels—especially the Tudor era. Philippa Gregory is one of my all time fave. Her writing is superb. Fantastic.

Do you have any advice for other authors trying to get their books out?
Goodreads is the best place to start with to meet readers and get the word out for your new novel. I met a lot of amazing and passionate readers through here. It can also be very tough dealing with reviews, but it’s part of the package. Learn from it and don’t take it personally.

What do you like to do when you’re not writing?
I love to shop—a diehard fashionista. Even though I didn’t pursue a fashion-related career after studying in London, the love is hard to squash. Most of my female characters are fashion forward, if you guys noticed ;)
If you gave one of your characters an opportunity to speak for themselves who would it be and what would they say?

Blake Knight from Chasing Series. Why did he feel the need to punish Sienna the way he did in the second novel, Imperfection.

Yes, there is. I just want to say THANK YOU for all the love and support. It’s been an amazing experience and I can’t thank you enough for making it possible for me to reach my dreams. I hope to deliver more angsty novels your way.
