One step away from the coveted Vice Presidency of her firm, the last thing Kat Owens needs is the distraction of a man. Her client, Erik Monteague, disagrees. He’s charming, sexy, seductive, and impossible to ignore or refuse. After succumbing to his advances, Kat’s forced to choose between her career and the man she’s fallen for... while knowing even her love might not be enough to save him from self-destructing.
While Erik’s perfectly executed seduction gets Kat into his bed, the end result is more than he bargained for. Having spent the past ten years wallowing in guilt and self-loathing over his fiancée’s tragic death, falling in love is unacceptable. However, Kat’s passionate, loving nature dissolves the carefully constructed walls guarding his heart, forcing him to face his tragic past and make a decision... spend the rest of his life running, or risk being devastated by love again?

Kat Owens is starting fresh, moving on from her old marketing firm she has relocated cities and looking ahead. All Kat wants to do is prove to her parents that she isn't a royal screw up and can be successful. She is within mere grabs of the coveted Vice Presidency position at her new firm Sinclair Marketing Group (SMG) and the last thing she needs is anyone to get in her way...much less a man. During a meet and greet party held by SMG one nigh all her plans come come tumbling down when she scans the room and locks eyes with HIM.... The one night stand that she hasn't seen or stopped thinking about for over a year.
Erik Monteague is successful, hot and the local playboy. He is done with relationships thinking that nothing good can come of them other than hurt so one night stands and no strings attached sex is all he's after. That is until that one night 18 months ago when he met a woman that not only rocked his bed but stirred something within him that he hasn't felt in years. Trying to find her without success he is still living his carefree playboy life until that night at the SMG party...and HER
Erik and Kat are a beautiful mess. Neither of them wanted a relationship each for their own reasons but the pull they had towards each other was just to much to ignore. So they come to an agreement to see where things go. The problem with that is that Kat loves and loves with all her heart and Erik has loved and lost 10 years ago and doesn't want to go back there again.
I'm not going to say much more than that about the actual plot but I will say that I really was not expecting to like this book so much. Erik and Kat were a really awesome apart and together. Their chemistry was undeniable but they each had fears, past tragedies and insecurities they had to overcome. Another reason I really liked these two is they didn't play games and beat around the bush, they said what needed to be said, when it needed to be said and took as good as they gave. They had their share of angst but taught each other the meaning of forgiveness and trust and in the end got their much deserved HEA.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a fast paced well written contemporary romance. The plot is realistic and all of the characters truly lovable. This was my first Alannah Lynne read but I assure you it will not be my last.

It's a great feeling when you're in the mood to read something not too long but with enough story and character that will captivate you throughout and leave you with a content smile on your face in the end. That is exactly what Savin' Me was for me. I went into this book only having read the synopsis and not really knowing what to expect. But the end result was fantastic.
