From the national bestselling novel Butterfly Weeds comes the other side of the story…
About the man behind the song.
A firefighter by day and a musician by night, Will balances his dangerous career with his weekend gigs, but his mind is never far from Julia Lang. They said their goodbyes years ago, but Will now hopes a song from their past will help Julia stop and remember a life they once shared together. His only fear is that he’s waited too long to get his song to her ears.
My Butterfly takes us on another breathtaking journey, down gravel roads, starry night sky's and shooting stars, to fire halls and goodbye's but leads us all back to one song and one place, where a man's love never faltered and his butterfly found her way home.
"You'll always be my butterfly right? You'll come back to me?" I asked
"I love you Will Stephens...I'll be your butterfly. I'll always come back home"
Laura Miller has taken her already amazing book and managed to retell the story from her heroes point of view in flawless fashion. I absolutely adored Butterfly Weeds, and getting to revisit one of my favorite love stories but this time hear it from Will's POV and have everything feel fresh, and new, yet still beautiful was phenomenal!
Yes essentially this is the same story as Butterfly Weeds but it is SO much more too. We are taken on the same heartbreaking and emotional journey but gaps in the time frame of the first book have been filled, scenes have been extended, story-lines added and a wedding and epilogue that you will love...."a million times a million, and to the moon and back"
Do you have to re-read Butterfly Weeds before this book? No I wouldn't say so. But if you haven't read it you definitely should before reading My Butterfly.
Will Stephens, that is really what this whole book boils down too and he has got to be one of the best heroes ever, the small town country boy! My heart broke for him in Butterfly Weeds, but with My Butterfly the emotions were amplified. Learning about his insecurities, watching him live with guilt over mistakes and regrets of the past was heartbreaking, but also getting to feel what he felt and understand why he had the persistence, patience and determination to wait for Julia made the whole story that much better for me.
I loved taking a trip down memory lane with Will and Julia, finding out the missing half of their love, the reasons Will never strayed and always stayed true to his one and only. The visits, the smiles, the talks, the heartbreak and heartache, the never-ending love that unknowingly held two souls together even though they seemed worlds apart, it was the perfect ending. And through it all the essence of this story was not lost, or made into too much, it is simply the missing puzzle pieces being put in their rightful place to complete an inspiring picture and journey of true love. I have to admit that I am sad that Will and Julia's story is now complete but I will cherish every moment spent with them and remember the amazing story of their undying love for a long time to come.

"Thanks for marrying a country boy pretty girl"
"I've always loved you, country boy"
